ULI Michigan is pleased to officially announce the new ULI Michigan Young Leaders Group Co-chairs, Lily Gonzalez and Lana Zaghmout. Lily and Lana have been dedicated members of ULI Michigan and have generously volunteered much of their time and talents to furthering our mission. Liliana (Lily) Gonzalez is a LEED ND Registered Architect and urban designer. She joined Cinnaire as the Design and Development Strategist through the Detroit Revitalization Fellowship. Liliana received her Master of Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and her Master of Urban Design from the University of Michigan. She is a recipient of the Fulbright Fellowship, an active participant in ULI Healthy Leaders Network, and serves as co vice-chair of the USGBC Market Leadership Advisory Board for the Detroit Region.
Lana Manaweil Zaghmout is currently the Inclusion and Business Opportunity Manager for the City of Detroit’s Civil Rights, Inclusion and Opportunity Department. She is a ULI Larson Center for Leadership, Cohort 2018, graduate. Currently, she is developing programming for the Mayor’s Executive Order 2016-1, Community Benefits Ordinance Agreements, Casino Hiring Agreements, and Tax Abatement Employee Hiring provisions. Prior to her position with the City she was the Occupied Properties Program Manager for the Detroit Land Bank Authority (DLBA). At the DLBA she developed and implemented programs for Detroiters to gain and maintain homeownership. Those programs include the Buy Back Pilot Program and the Occupied Non-Profit Program. Previously, she worked as a Senior Policy Analyst for Detroit City Council and as a Finance/Program Officer for the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. Lana is also serves as Treasurer on the Pembroke Academy School Board in Detroit. She graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 2012 and from Wayne State University in 2009 with a B.A. in Psychology and a Minor in Political Science.
