Committees

The strength behind the success of ULI is its membership base and their participation in the valuable committees ULI Michigan has to offer. Only by having active, successful committees can we continue to forge ahead and move Michigan forward.

Committees

ULI Michigan’s committees are the backbone of the District Council, organized by and comprised of ULI Michigan members working together to help ULI fulfill its mission. Bring your expertise to the table by getting involved with a ULI Michigan committee.

If you are interested in a specific ULI Michigan Committee and would like  more information about how to get involved, please contact the Chair of the Committee you are interested in joining. You may also direct any questions, comments, or inquiries to the ULI Michigan staff. Please keep in mind that only current ULI Members can participate on ULI Michigan Committees.

ULI Michigan General Committees

General committees focus on a specific area of interest as it relates to the District Council as a whole. These committees are responsible for producing a year-by-year program of work, directing ULI staff based on committee recommendations, and setting and achieving goals which help drive the District Council and promote the mission of ULI.

Communications Committee
The Communications Committee keeps ULI members up-to-date on current programs, initiatives, and member benefits via social media and the ULI Michigan website. The Communications Committee is also responsible for producing LandLink, which encompasses ULI Michigan digital media communications with members and prospective members, including blog posts, eblasts and the quarterly e-newsletter.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee encourages new memberships in ULI, introduces new members to the local District Council, and engages members in ULI’s work in the community, tracks retention and coordinates occasional member surveys. The committee is also responsible for promoting, establishing and retaining relationships with partner organizations.

Programs Committee

The Program Committee identifies topics and speakers for programs and events, as well as local panels for national topics of interest (Emerging Trends and Infrastructure). The Committee organizes around the issues impacting the real estate industry, both locally and on a national level, in order to develop timely and relevant programming.

West Michigan Programs Committee
The West Michigan Programs Committee works to provide the West Michigan region with ULI programming and events. The Committee identifies topics of interest and coordinates programs that feature many of the developments, approaches, and concepts that are successfully revitalizing and transforming urban areas throughout the western part of Michigan.

Women’s Leadership Initiative Steering Committee
ULI Michigan is excited to announce the introduction of the ULI Michigan Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) in 2014. The mission of the Women’s Leadership Initiative is to raise the visibility and increase the number of women leaders in ULI and the real estate industry.

Young Leaders Group Steering Committee
The Young Leaders Group Steering Committee works to create a unique setting for the future leaders in the real estate and land use industries to interact, both professionally and socially, with the leaders of today, while providing responsible leadership and transferring knowledge in the use of land in order to enhance the total environment.

ULI Michigan Signature Program Committees

Signature program committees are responsible for planning annual and recurring District Council programs and events. Committee members work to follow in the footsteps of past events while still creating an original agenda and laying a unique groundwork for future programs and events.

Annual Award Dinner Planning Committee
The Annual Award Dinner Planning Committee is responsible for planning ULI Michigan’s Annual Award Dinner, which honors local individuals who, through leadership and dedication, have helped create and sustain thriving communities, both locally and worldwide.

In addition to selecting the honoree, the committee produces and distributes sponsorship information, coordinates the event ceremony, and works closely with the honoree to ensure his or her needs are met throughout the planning process.

UM/ULI Real Estate Forum Planning Committee
The UM/ULI Real Estate Forum Planning Committee is responsible for planning all aspects of the Annual UM/ULI Real Estate Forum. Working closely with the University of Michigan Real Estate Certificate Program, the Committee sets the program, selects relevant topics to be featured at the Forum, and contacts individuals to participate as speakers. The Committee is also responsible for coordinating the Real Estate Excellence Awards which are presented annually at the Forum.
