Building the Perfect Pitch
In April of 2022, the ULI Michigan Pathways to Inclusion initiative launched the Building the Perfect Pitch program. The Building the Perfect Pitch Program is designed to support emerging minority developers in their efforts to complete commercial real estate projects in Michigan. Our program provides a space to perfect your pitch for investors, potential partners, possible tenants, and other resources that could fill gaps in your project.
Real Estate Development is more than buying, constructing and filling up buildings. On any given project, developers have to sell their vision over and over. Sell the investors and lenders on the financial feasibility and success. Sell the community on your ability to listen and partner with them for a project that adds value. Sell the City on the fit of your project into their planning and development efforts. Sell potential tenants on your space/location/amenities. Sell, Sell, Sell.
Knowing when, how and who to pitch your project to can be the difference between a solid idea and a shovel in ground.
The program seeks emerging minority developers with projects in varying phases of development to participate in Building the Perfect Pitch. We then invite a group of seasoned developers and land use professionals to provide coaching on how to build the perfect pitch deck, adapting it to the different phases of the project and getting in front of the right people. Following coaching sessions, we provide the opportunity to showcase your project to potential partners in a Development Marketplace. We expect to keep this program going and to have a “cohort” every year during our Emerging Trends and Annual Real Estate Summit events. Emerging Developers Marketplace
ULI Michigan hosted the Emerging Developers Marketplace at the 2022 Annual Real Estate Summit.
