Mr. Coleman serves as the Director, US & Foreign Direct Investment for the State of Michigan’s
Economic Development Corporation. In this role, Mr. Coleman develops and implements the State of
Michigan’s national and international business attraction strategy and oversees a staff that work to
implement this work, with the goal of driving new jobs and investment to Michigan.
Formerly, Mr. Coleman served as the State of Michigan’s lead for Japanese OEM and Tier-1 business
development efforts as a Senior Business Development Manager. In this role, Mr. Coleman focused on
providing resources to assist job creation and investment, connecting Japanese businesses to local and
regional partners, and facilitating a successful transition to the State of Michigan.
Prior to joining the MEDC, Mr. Coleman served as the International and Government Sales Manager for a
mid-sized company based in Michigan. As well, Mr. Coleman spent time in banking with Flagstar
Bancorp.
Mr. Coleman graduated from Alma College, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Business Administration and
has earned his Master of Business Administration, Business Management, from Davenport University.
He is also an Economic Development Finance Professional certified through the National Development
Council.
