ULI Michigan has been awarded a $5,000 creative placemaking grant from ULI’s Building Healthy Places Initiative, with the generous support of the Kresge Foundation. Working with partner Henry Ford Health System (HFHS), the grant will be used to host a workshop with national and local experts to generate placemaking ideas for the new, state-of-the-art cancer center, which will be located south of the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit’s New Center neighborhood. Through the partnership with HFHS, ULI Michigan will explore opportunities to create active living, nutrition, education and community green space that links the cancer center with other healthy lifestyle assets in Detroit.
Tours, lectures and demonstrations will be a part of the programming, and ultimately, the goal is to showcase the facility as a living model of creative placemaking and during the 2018 ULI Spring Meeting in Detroit.
Stay tuned for more on this exciting partnership and project as it develops.
