Signature Programs

View from the Top Dinner

ULI Michigan’s Annual View from the Top Dinner provides Young Leaders with the opportunity to “wine and dine” with the top names in the local real estate and land use industries. The dinner, which takes place annually at the Detroit Athletic Club, features “mentors” who have graciously volunteered their time to answer questions, discuss their industry experience, and provide their own unique “view from the top” to the Young Leaders in attendance.

The format of the event provides for maximum engagement between Mentors and Young Leaders. During dinner, each guest is seated at a table made up of Young Leaders and one Mentor. The Mentors change tables with each course, giving Young Leaders the unique opportunity to meet and interact with different Mentors throughout the course of the evening.

The 10th Annual View from the Top Dinner will take place in the fall of 2015. Additional details will be announced at a later date.

Young Leaders Group Leadership Exchange

The Young Leaders Group Leadership Exchange is an exciting series of cross-country tours designed specifically for young leader members. Exchanges focus on project tours, site visits, discussion panels and networking opportunities to learn about the challenges and successes other metropolitan areas are facing. It also offers Young Leaders a great opportunity to network with other professionals that are involved with ULI and learn from some of the nation’s most prominent planners, builders and developers.

The ULI Young Leaders of Boston, Chicago, Michigan, New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. have successfully hosted 7 Exchange programs over the last 5 years. This program is driven by each districts’ local young leaders and provides two days’ worth of development tours, case studies and networking opportunities.

ULI Michigan was honored to host the YLG Leadership Exchange 2012 in Detroit. From June 7 through June 9, 2012, visiting Young Leaders, as well as local YLG members, participated in an in-depth tour of the City of Detroit and were given an inside look into the various factors contributing to the city’s revitalization. The program showcased some of Detroit’s finest assets and initiatives, including the Detroit Riverfront, Eastern Market, Detroit Works!, Hantz Farms, Bedrock Real Estate Services’ downtown properties, the Heidelberg Project, Campus Martius Park, and much, much more!
