Please join us for ULI Michigan’s 2018 Emerging Trends in Real Estate event! This exciting program will focus on the latest trends in land use and the emerging markets as well as the shifting dynamics of successful main street suburbs.

Ralph Boyd, CEO of the Americas for the Urban Land Institute will join us to present the 2018 Emerging Trends Report. Emerging Trends in Real Estate is a trends and forecast publication with a 38-year history, and is the most highlyregarded and widely-read forecast report in the real estate industry. Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2018, undertaken jointly by PwC and ULI, provides an outlook on U.S. investment and development trends, real estate finance and capital markets, property sectors, metropolitan areas, and other real estate issues. The report draws on formal and informal surveys of real estate executives, investors, developers, and market experts around the U.S., including survey responses from over 1,500 real estate executives and personal interviews with over 350 industry leaders. Survey results relating to our local market will be included in the presentation.

Ralph Boyd is the Chief Executive Officer for the Americas Region of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a global, multidisciplinary real estate organization whose work is driven by more than 40,000 members dedicated to responsible land use and building thriving, sustainable communities.

ULI’s Americas region serves the Institute’s 35,000-plus members in North and South America. As Americas CEO, Boyd works with ULI’s volunteer leadership and staff to ensure that ULI delivers an optimal member experience in the Americas region, including the delivery of networks, content, services and programs that meet the needs and exceed the expectations of the Americas members. He provides executive leadership and strategic direction in the areas of regional programs and services, member networks (including ULI’s product councils and district councils), industry outreach, and new partnerships. This includes oversight of management, fiscal goals and long-range strategies for the Americas in accordance with ULI’s worldwide mission, vision, and business plan.

Boyd has extensive experience leading non-profit organizations. Prior to joining ULI’s staff, Boyd served from 2014 to 2017 as Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross’s Massachusetts region, where he was responsible for overseeing institutional advancement as well as diverse and recurring revenue channels and operations, including the training of volunteers to provide disaster preparation and recovery services to nearly 7 million people in more than 350 communities. From 2012 through 2013, Boyd was interim President and CEO of the Center City Public Charter Schools in Washington D.C., an organization he co-founded in 2008. There, he was responsible for the oversight of academic programs, finance, overall operations, and community outreach functions of a charter management organization operating six excellent inner-city public charter schools.

Following the exciting presentation of the 2018 Emerging Trends in Real Estate Report, the program will focus on Main Street Suburbs. Through a series of presentations, guests will be able to answer: What are the assets essential to make a suburb thrive? Does every town NEED a downtown? How can successful Public Private Partnerships with the city and its anchor institutions contribute to thriving communities?
