Urban Land Institute Michigan is proud to feature new projects and developments as part of our programming. The following is a brief update on the status of projects highlighted during ULI Michigan events in 2011: Cobo Hall Expansion Preliminary construction has begun on the $300 million Cobo Hall expansion. Sidney Forbes Selected as Recipient of ULI Michigan’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Sidney Forbes has been selected as the 2012 recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award. The founder of The Forbes Company is being recognized for his contributions to real estate development and the quality of life in the metropolitan community. The award will be presented at a dinner on Thursday, May 17, 2012,  at the Book Cadillac in downtown Detroit. ULI Michigan’s Statewide Expansion Kick-Off Event Met with Success

The West Michigan Programs Committee’s first event, the Redevelopment Ready Breakfast, which took place on February 7, 2012, in Lansing, examined the definition of  “redevelopment ready” as it applies to Michigan communities. The event featured Doug Smith of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and Gary Hiedel of the Michigan State Housing and Development Authority(MSHDA), who unveiled the all new Redevelopment Ready Communities Program, which will launch in 2012.
